Accountability & Governance

Transparency

We are accountable to the communities we work with, not to governments or donors. This page documents our governance, funding, and commitments to openness.

Our Transparency Commitments

Non-Partisan Independence

Sutra does not accept funding from political parties or their affiliates. Our research is not available for purchase. We disclose all our major funders publicly.

Community Accountability

We establish formal feedback mechanisms with the communities we work with. Community voices shape our research agenda, not donor preferences.

Open Knowledge

All our publications are free to access and download. We do not paywall policy research intended for public benefit.

Annual Reports

Sutra will publish annual reports covering our programmes, reach, financial summary, and learning from each year. Our first annual report will be published after we complete our first full year of operations.

Annual Report 2025

Publishing in January 2026, covering April 2025 – March 2026

Governance

During our founding phase (2025), Sutra is governed by its founding team. We are constituting a Governing Board with independent directors — including persons with disabilities and community representatives — which will be published here once formalised.

Founding Team Responsibility

Until the Governing Board is constituted, the founding team is collectively responsible for all financial, programmatic, and strategic decisions at Sutra.

Governing Board (Forthcoming)

The Governing Board will include at least 50% members from persons with disabilities or community backgrounds, independent of Sutra's founding team.
